First Day of School - 2007

Part of me couldn't wait until the first day of school so that I could take a break from being "entertainer" and then there was part of me that did not want this day to ever come - the day my princess goes off to school.
Overall the day went good. The boys really like their teacher (of course it was the first day) - ask me next week or month and it might have changed. Olivia did great going into her class. I thought she would grab my leg and start crying like she does at church, but she walked right in and puckered her lips for a smooch and said good-by. No tears. No complaining. Wish I could have said the same for me. I did shed a couple tears when out of her sight. I just can't believe she is already in school. Life flies by - it really does. When I find myself wishing for time alone or that they would go to their rooms for some peace and quiet - I have to remind myself that I will be in my rocking chair doing my crossword with no noise before I know it, and I will probably be so bored - longing for the noise of laughter, crying, whining, rough-housing - the noise of life!

Through his smile he was saying "mom, why do you have to do this EVERY year!"

I barely got this shot - before he said - Mom, STOP

She is ready.... I am not!

I was choking up at this point

This is how I left my baby girl. WAAAHHHHH!

Way above the top in her writing skills ;-)

silly face!

First Football Game!

Saturday was Cam's first football game ever. He is the one in the black jersey on the far left below. It was actually a scrimmage and we had to travel all the way to Tulsa for it. It was very exciting and VERY hot - like 105! Cam did a great job!

This kid was a little too aggressive for my likin'

The play is over - that little terd!

When Cam walked away #11 pushed him and this pic is Cam turning around inquiring "What's your problem??" I'm sure it was seasoned with grace ;-)

Even though he is about to die of heat stroke he shows his infamous smile

The girls spent a good amount of time coloring and then some time in the car a/c

Date Night

Luke and I went and saw Bourne Ultimatum the other day and I wanted to play movie critic for just a minute. I don't expect you to base your decision on seeing the movie from my input - just wanted to blog about something different for once. Ok - onto the movie - I will say first that Luke really enjoyed it, had nothing but positive things to say about it. And now onto me, the female. I did like the movie somewhat, but was a wee bit dissapointed in the lack of dialogue and romance (NOT a chic-flick). I felt like I needed a nap when we left the theater b/c it was non-stop action. I was wiped out after watching Jason Bourne run from the bad guys for 2 1.2 hours. I just want the girls out there to know that this is action-packed, lacking relationships and dialogue and that you definitely earn a chick flick after this one!

Beach Pictures

We spent a couple days at Galveston on the beach. My cousin, Kim and her kids, Max and Spence joined us down there at their beach house. The first day we got there it rained on us quite a bit - didn't bother the kids one bit though. We played on the beach a little while in the rain and then headed for the house to do some indoor games. The next day was the best we could have asked for. It was very overcast, but no rain and no burning hot sun. It was perfect. Thanks to those who prayed ;-)
I think my kids could live on the beach. They all loved the sand and the water and all the creatures that live in both. I, on the other hand was very sick of having sand on every inch of my body and in everything I own. At night we grilled out and watched movies - after trying to catch those ghost crabs that run around after the sun sets - that was hilarious! Lane loved being able to drive us around in the golf cart. Scared the wee-ber-jeebers out of me!!! On the way home we stopped at Moody Gardens to see more marine animals at the aquarium. I was so glad that we didn't listen to the weather man and went ahead and went. Definitely well worth it.

My favorite picture of the trip

Ryder

Cam caught quite a few creatures - and all went back in the water, not my car and not dead!

His Marilyn Monroe pose

Lane took his first driving lessons!. Watch out...seriously!

It was getting to be nap time

Max and Spence

My cousin, Kim and her youngest, Spence

Lane and Cam spent the day riding the waves (they were pretty big!)

Ryder spent the entire day just chasing and running from the waves

I think she has the "Miss America" wave down pretty good don't you?

Lane is getting a little R&R

Max showering off (with Spence behind him up to something I'm sure ;-)
