B'ville Flooding
Wow - this is crazy how much flooding there is here. Below are some pictures I took (before it got bad). I took these from the car w/ my little point and shoot. These were taken about 3 days ago. All the roads that I took these on are now under water. Luke is having staff mtg. at the local hospital today b/c the church is closed. I don't think there has been any flooding at the church, but it is located downtown and all the roads that lead into downtown are closed from what I have heard. I think the worst is over with. Weather forecast doesn't call for much more rain. Hopefully it will dry out and I won't have to keep building my ark. It has kinda made me think more about getting swim lessons for Ryder and Olivia!

Can't keep up!
Lane just got back from a week in Austin. He had an entire year's worth of entertainment wrapped up into 1 week. This is what he did w/ his Mimi:
4 wheeling
Zip lining
Jet skiing
Swimming (a few times)
Gattitown
Valente Beach
Bob Bullock museum
Imax movie
Bowling
Played pool
Shopped (got me a cute shirt!)
Played golf with his Papa
Went to Houston, TX to a bday party
Slip-n-slide
Went to Tyler, TX
Saw 2 movies and
Golfed some more.
I am surprised that Mimi is still alive after doing all that.

Kiddie Park....check!
We finally went and checked out Kiddie Park in Bartlesville this week. I LOVE KIDDIE PARK!!! I wish we had something like it in our town when I was little. We took Cam's friend, Nathan who is visiting from Texas. They are border line too old for it - but they are too immature to care. We have heard all about Kiddie Park since we started thinking about moving to B'ville. It is the place for little ones to go - mainly becuase it is so cheap! There is no entrance fee and the rides are 1-2 tickets each. A ticket is 25 cents! Also- we bought a large popcorn. large drink, 2 ice cream cones and a snow cone for $3.25!!!!! Wow! Pretty amazing huh? The whole time we were there I felt like I was in a movie or novel. It is SO small town feeling. Definitely not what I have ever experienced before. I can't wait to go back and take Olivia!!!

Family Reunions
I just checked out Mark's blog (worship pastor at FBCH) and he has a post about his family reunion.
I have to say that I am so envious of those who have family reunions. I have told Luke that when we get older and our kids are grown and married w/ kids that I envision our huge family at the park (or better yet, the beach) catching up on life w/ one another. Also, there are a ton of kids running around playing. My prayer is that everyone in our family is speaking to one another ;-) (which has not always been the case in both Luke and I's family) and that all of us have relationships w/ God AND no divorce.
This is what one of Mark's relatives wrote on his blog which I thought was great:
5 Lessons/Reminders from Family Reunions:1. We are different....different interests and different passions, but we have a common thread....WE ARE FAMILY.
2. Life is short and family is vitally important. Carve out more time in the year to all get together.
3. There is a window of time with kids....make the most of it...because they grow up.
4. God has placed us in the families that we are in for a reason....enjoy it....don't take it for granted.
5. Leaving a spiritual legacy and heritage is crucial. As I looked around at the 45 or so of us....I couldn't help but think of the spiritual seeds that were sown years ago into this family.

VBS Time
Our vbs will start this coming up Monday. I chose (with a little encouragement from my hubby and the fact that noone else would take the position) to direct this year's vbs. Not sure what I was thinking!!! I really love the administrative side of the job and my "gift-test" shows that it's my gift and love the people I work with, I just had no idea how much time and energy went into the planning. I want to call Tammie from FBCH and tell her how sorry I am I didn't appreciate her more when she directed the vbs year after year! We have been preparing for months and still could have used another month or two to prepare. I have to say that I could NOT do it w/o Betsy and Sherrie.
After next week I would like to go on a vbs fast. I don't want to hear about it, I don't want to look at it, I don't want to think about it ;-) I will be done!

Phil's Lesson
Each week I get an email summarizing the lesson that was taught in Connection Class back home at First Baptist Hurst. Our teacher, Phil is amazing! Well, this week I thought the lesson sounded great and wanted to post it. I bolded the things that stood out to me.
LESSON:
Phil started the lesson by changing the question he asked us to discuss last week. He asked us to talk at each table about what is more important to us than money. Some of the items he mentioned after that discussion were salvation, the power of faith (capability to believe that God can do things we can't do), prayer, hope, happiness, joy, family, friends, health and our reputation. None of us would give up what we have to be someone like Donald Trump who is a millionaire. Jesus was not known because he gave money. He gave other things but never money. Phil referred to the story in Acts 3: 1-8. This demonstrated the wisdom of beggars that position themselves where they think people of compassion will be. In this case, the beggar was told that he would be given the ability to walk instead of money. Many times we really can't imagine receiving more than the immediate need. In this case, the man needed money to eat and never thought about being able to walk. The lessons that Phil shared today were 1) Ministry opportunities may sometimes disrupt our religious plans. Sometimes God puts opportunities in our path to make sure our commitment is stronger than our routine. We need to remember that sometimes our family, neighbors or friends may need us more than we need to be in church. 2) In our commitment to ministry we may have to transition past what people want to what people need (the begger would have settled for money instead of walking). Many people settle for less than what God wants for them. God wants to move folks to a higher level. The good that we do must always be a means for people to know Jesus Christ. We should always avoid the temptation to do something short of that. 3) When we do good we must avoid the temptation to be the hero. The person needs to see Jesus, not us. The early chapters in Acts contain stories of how Peter got in trouble for healing and then in Acts 14 Paul and Barnabas were looked at as gods for healing. They replied "We are but men". We need to remember that what we do good is the compassion of Christ flowing through us.

Excitement in the Family
Well, last week we found out that our kiddos will be having more cousins come December. Luke's older sister, Lisa is 38 and has 3 boys (see below - Lisa is the one in the white shirt w/ glasses) There is Houston (17), Parker (12) and Harrison (8) and she just found out that she is expecting...twins!!! I am sooo excited. I thought Luke's side was all done w/ babies, but I guess not. We just love babies! Also, my brother and his wife are expecting in September, so we will be around lots of bambinos! Fun, Fun! Just glad it's not me ;-)))
